For most, Sunday is a day of rest but for the team at Rockstar it seems to be a day to make gamers salivate like a pack of hungry wolves. At 2:00pm (BST) the games developer sent social media into a frenzy as the firm posted an image of a red logo on its Twitter, Facebook and official website.

Since the cryptic message was posted, Rockstar has remained quiet on the matter and instead letting fans on social media making up their own minds. The Tweet alone has received over 100,000 retweets and 170,000 likes as fans have weighed in on what they think the teaser means with many posting GIFs to express their excitement.

Whilst it’s unclear if Rockstar will be revealing a brand new Red Dead game or a remaster/remake of Red Dead Redemption, the announcement has left many gamers and media outlets excited. Usually I’m not a fan of remastered games but personally Red Dead Redemption was one of the best games on PS3 so bringing a remastered version over to the PS4 would be very satisfying.

There’s no indication when the next reveal will take place but it’s safe to say I’m keeping my eyes glued firmly to Rockstar’s social media.

UPDATE: Rockstar has once again posted a beautiful yet cryptic Tweet. This time showcasing seven unidentified gunslingers in the distance.

There has still been no official announcement from Rockstar beyond this series of images but many outlets are choosing to believe this means a Red Dead Redemption 2 is definitely in the works.
